Have you ever heard someone say something about throwing themselves into their work? This is what throwing yourself into your work looks like. Spending an entire afternoon and evening on one piece because losing yourself in the time-consuming tasks needed to create it are your favourite form of escape. The very best escape. I have had the stone and base/bezel for this ring made for quite some time; but every time I picked them up to do something with them, something else kept telling me to put them back in their little box for another day. Yesterday, however, they demanded my attention; and so I gave them every ounce of my attention. My full focus. All of my concentration. Every beat of my heart and breath from my lungs. And when my hands were so cramped up I couldn’t unbend my fingers so well, they said, “Enough, enough. This is just right.”
